NO MORE HUNTING IN COSTA RICA, WE SAID YES!! TO WILDLIFE

After two days debating , last night in the first debate lawmakers approved wildlife law. 41 lawmakers voted in favor and 5 against. With This legislation Costa Rica becomes in the first Latin American country to ban hunting as sport. Also punishable by fines of up to ¢ 1.5 million to the people who kill or capture wildlife. The only exceptions are for scientific purposes or to survive.

Congressman José María Villalta welcomes the adoption of the first law of popular initiative which received 177,000 signatures. The vote on second reading of the law will be wild tomorrow.

Después de dos días de debate, anoche en primer debate los legisladores aprobaron la ley de vida silvestre.  41 legisladores votaron a favor y 5 en contra. Con esta legislación Costa Rica se convierte en el primer país de América Latina en prohibir la caza como deporte. También se castiga con multas de hasta ¢ 1,5 millones a las personas que matan o capturan la vida silvestre. Las únicas excepciones son para fines científicos o para sobrevivir.

El congresista José María Villalta celebra la aprobación de la primera ley de iniciativa popular que recibió 177.000 firmas.La votación sobre la segunda lectura de la ley será salvaje mañana.
